Main Attracions

Berlin is the Cultural and Political Heart of Germany. The Parliament (Reichstag) and Angela Merkel's chancellery are located only a few foot-steps west of the world-famous Brandenburg Gate. Turning to the east, the gate is the beginning of the fancy noble Boulevard "Unter den Linden", which leads you past the Embassies of the U.S., France and Russia to the baroque campus of Humboldt University and further to the "Museum Island", uniting the huge archeological collections of Prussian Kings and German Emperors. Berlin hosts the major philharmonic orchestra of the continent (Berlin Philharmonists) and has three opera houses. Each year in February, the Berlin Film Festival takes place under great participation of Berlin's cinephilac population. Vivacious nightlife with more than 3000 pubs, clubs, restaurants and breweries, lively theatre and cabaret scene...

Food Recommandation

Besides the high-standard Gourmet cooking which is offered by any major Capital, Berlin offers a wide range of price-worthy popular dishes. Among those there are also typical Berlin dishes, such as Boulette – delicious meat balls, introduced to Berlin by the French protestant emigrants who settled in Berlin in late 17th Century. Döner Kebab – a beef sandwich, an invention of the Turkish population who settled in the Western part of Berlin since the 1960ies. The "Döner" since became popular all over Germany and even in Turkey. Curry Sausage, the spicy sausage, served in little pieces with lots of Curry and Ketchup, was invented during the economic depression of the 1930ies. And as refreshment during Berlin's hot summer season we recommend Berlin's beer „Berliner Weiße " which is usually served in huge glass bowls and gets its red colour from raspberry sirup (!). During summer season the Berliner love sitting out in their beer-gardens until late at night.
