1 When can I enter your school?

For the convenience of our students, Eurocentres Silicon Valley has an open enrollment system. On Mondays, we give a placement test starting at 9:00 a.m. New students can take the test, then begin classes the same day.

2 Do you offer Institutional TOEFL? Do you offer International TOEFL?

Eurocentres Silicon Valley offers the Institutional TOEFL once a month. It is open to Eurocentres Silicon Valley students only. Students must sign up as soon as possible for this test, as space is limited. Eurocentres Silicon Valley does not offer the International TOEFL.

3 How will I improve my English at Eurocentres Silicon Valley?

We focus on improving your communicative abilities in English: increasing your vocabulary, improving your pronunciation and developing the accuracy and precision of your English. You will have plenty of practice in all language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.

4 Can I transfer from Eurocentres Silicon Valley to a US college without taking the TOEFL test?

Yes. Eurocentres Silicon Valley has a conditional acceptance policy with Foothill College, De Anza College, College of San Mateo, Canada College, Skyline College, Notre Dame de Namur University, and Menlo College, whereby completion of our level 6 can substitute for the TOEFL test.

5 How many levels are there at Eurocentres Silicon Valley?

There are 10 levels - from Beginner to Advanced. All Eurocentres schools use the same placement test on Day 1 of your course. We even use the results of your test to design a personal study plan for you.

6 How large are the group classes?

Our group classes are limited to 14 students. The average number of students per class is 8-10.

7 Is the school closed during the summer? Winter?

Eurocentres Silicon Valley is open throughout the year. We close for national holidays, for example, July 4th and Thanksgiving. We also close during the period between Christmas and New Year's Day.

8 What kind of accommodation do you offer for students?

Most of our students choose to stay in a host family arranged by the school. Living with a host family is the best way to improve your English and experience day to day life in Silicon Valley. When you enroll you can tell us what kind of family you prefer. We will then do our best to satisfy your requests.
You also have the option of staying in a hotel or living in an apartment. Please consult our accomodation section for more information.

9 What can I do if I'm not satisfied with my host family?

Talk with the Centre Manager, Ruth Kirby. She will help to make sure you are happy and comfortable living in and around Menlo Park.

10 How will I get to school each day?

If you stay with a host family the family will show you the easiest way to get to Eurocentres. Most of our students use the train or bus. The Menlo Park train station is just two blocks from the school, making it the popular choice among students for all their transportation needs. You can buy a weekly or monthly train or bus pass, and our staff will help you do this. On your first day we will give you a city map and information about train and bus services.

11 Do you issue the I-20? Can I get a student visa (F-1)?

Yes. The student must complete our application form, enrolling as a full-time student. This will give us the information to make the I-20. We will send the I-20 to the student, and then the student will take it to the US Consulate or Embassy in their country to apply for the student visa.
